Meet Your Librarian
My name is Semoy Garnett, and I have been working in libraries even before I left school. When I was a student at SJC, my librarian, Ms Renee-amanda Heywood, told me I spent too much time in the library NOT to help out. The next thing I knew I was shelf-reading, putting together displays, and planning to apply to work at NALIS upon graduation.
More than a decade later, after serving in three different school libraries and completing my BSc in Library and Information Studies at Aberystwyth University, I find myself where I never expected to be: back in the school where my career began, coping with the loss of my colleague, mentor, and friend, and trying my best to, in my own way, continue the work she began. Over the years, I have learned so much about libraries, information literacy, the importance of reading and being a lifelong learner, and I look forward to using all that I have learned to serve my school community.

A bit more about me
I am a fan of so many things I sometimes forget to list them. These include:
- Technology, even when it frustrates me. I'm no expert, but I've been dabbling in website and graphic design for as long as I've been in libraries.
- Reading, at any given moment of any given day. My current obsession? Chinese webnovels. Which leads me to my love of....
- Asian entertainment, particularly anime, manga, k-dramas and webnovels. This is also the ONLY way you're going to get me into anything to do with sports (Haikyuu for best sports anime!)
- Gardening. To help me de-stress when I was in the final year of my studies and during COVID, I finally took the time I've always wanted to do more than my annual murder of tomato seedlings. It's a wonderful way to relax that I would love to share with you.
- Crafts in general. I've dabbled in both sewing and book binding, and my next target is to get the tools so I can start exploring basic woodwork. Although I will admit, that's mostly to support my gardening.
- Video games, mostly RPGs like Mario, Zelda, and Final Fantasy. I may currently have a TINY obsession with Stardew Valley.
